A selection of the paintings in the Dulwich Picture Gallery exhibition to accompany our review article 'Norman Rockwell's America' by Estelle Lovatt.
Norman Rockwell (1894-1978) painted the American dream on magazine covers, in books and for many years on the American Boy Scout calendar. The Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachussets, has over 700 of his painting, drawings and illustratuions. His work appeared in magazines like The Saturday Evening Post and Look and in 2006 one of his painting, Breaking Home Ties, sold for $15.4m.
The exhibition runs until March 27 2011. The Picture Gallery is currently closed on Mondays - more details on the gallery website:
